I guess you *could* throw this on over a pair of biking shorts for a short ride to the local cafe, but I bought it hoping it would roll up and stash in my bag, to wear at the office after my commute. It works very well for that--it looks very stylish, fits well, and is well made. The merino wool is lovely--not itchy, and just the right weight. The V-neck and sleeve openings are just right, too. And the little on-seam pockets work well, without adding bulk.
