Women and Cyclocross Bikes

Kerry's masterpiece

What? Has the Terry blog turned into a scientific journal? No. But you all know how important the facts are to me. After all, being the first company to make bikes specifically for women didn't come about without some serious thought given to left-hand brain matters. Smoke and mirrors I am not!

Turns out Kerry Litka is of a similar mind. She sent me this statistics project she's undertaken concerning gender and cyclocross bicycle frame fit. One of the more interesting results? There is no significant interaction between gender and the amount of money a person is willing to spend on a bicycle.

It brings to mind the first time I stopped into a bike shop trying to sign on dealers to stock my handbuilt Terry Precision bicycle complete with Shimano 600 components. The suggested retail price was $600. The owner of the shop looked me square in the eye and said, "No woman will ever spend that much for a bicycle."

Fortunately, I didn't believe him!

Read about Kerry's other results and spread the word.
